1. Purpose of Publication
This site publishes information about parental child abduction cases involving Japan in the public interest: to document a systemic failure that no government agency records, to support the recovery of abducted children, and to deter future abductions through transparency. It is not published for harassment or revenge.
2. Publication Criteria
- Cases are published only when supported by legal documents, court records, or public testimony submitted by a person with direct knowledge of the case.
- Photos and names of children are published only with the documented consent of the child or their parent.
- Every submission is manually reviewed by our team before publication. Nothing is published automatically.
- Home addresses, phone numbers, financial details, and other data not necessary for the public-interest purpose are not published. Submitters are asked to redact such information from documents before upload.
3. Correction and Removal Requests
If you believe information about you on this site is inaccurate or wrongly published, you (or your legal representative) may request a formal review at any time via the report form or by email to info@japanabductionwatch.org, stating the specific content at issue and the grounds for correction. We will review the request against the underlying documents, and correct or remove content shown to be inaccurate. A record of the request and outcome is kept.

4. Data Handling
- This website is hosted on GitHub Pages; databases and forms are hosted on Airtable. Submissions are stored in Airtable and are visible publicly only after review and approval.
- Reporter contact details (name, email) are used solely to verify submissions and are not published.
- This site itself does not set tracking cookies. Embedded services (Airtable) may set their own cookies subject to their privacy policies.
5. Disclaimer
Information on this site is published in good faith based on the documents and testimony available to us at the time of publication. It does not constitute legal advice. Judicial documents speak for themselves; summaries are provided for accessibility. Where the term “abduction” is used, it reflects the documented removal or retention of a child without the consent of the other parent, as evidenced in the linked records.
