Japan Abduction Watch
A global initiative to expose Japan's systematic parental child abduction crisis.
Mission Statement
Japan Abduction Watch.org (J.A.W.org) is a public watchdog platform dedicated to exposing the systemic failure of Japan's legal, judicial, and political institutions in protecting children from parental abduction.
Through official court records, verified testimonies, and factual documentation, we aim to:
- Document confirmed cases of international parental child abduction involving Japan
- Hold institutions and individuals accountable through public transparency
- Support left-behind parents seeking the return of, or access to, their children
- Advocate for Japan's full compliance with the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction
Why This Matters
Japan has long been described as a “black hole” for parental child abduction. Despite acceding to the Hague Convention in 2014, enforcement remains rare, and children abducted to or within Japan are seldom returned. Left-behind parents — both Japanese and foreign — face years of separation with little institutional recourse.
We believe public transparency is essential to stopping future abductions and protecting children's right to both parents.
